so to get started here's a post about location......
some might think it doesn't really matter where the shirt is made all that really counts is how is what made (quality) and how much it actually cost.
you would be dead wrong to think that, here's why:

a regular shirt factory making RTW shirts for some retail store or retail chain receives the order up to 9 months in advance, but normally they have 3 to 6 months to prepare the order and ship it within a container by sea which take 3/4 weeks extra....

this is not an option for a custom shirt order...the slowest shirtmakers will take up to 8 weeks to complete an order (maybe with a fitting in the middle) and many of these shirtmakers are making them in house....outsourcing it to our factory means we need time to digest the order, sew the shirt pack it and ship it out,the tailor receiving it need also some time to prepare the shirt for the customer....so what does it all have to do with location?!

simply some places are slow because the structure and the workers are slow....and the U.S is a prime example of that.
one of the biggest custom shirt factory still in business in the tri-state area is based in NJ you would think it is an advantage for a NY tailor right? wrong! lead time is still a slow 4 to 6 weeks delivery time for a shirt....

theshirtfactory is based in hong kong and it is not by chance that we chose this location, like many others tailoring operations.
here they're so quick that a shirt can virtually be on it's way to its destination in LESS THAN 24 HOURS!

another reason why hong kong is so attractive for tailoring is that the fabrics needed for shirts are all available (plenty of stock and different quality) here and at the absolute cheapest price possible on the planet thanx to a tax-free policy.
so importing the same 2 meters of cotton to hong kong or NY will definitely not cost the same to the importer, besides the overhead cost of a fabric dealer in NY compared to a hong kong one.

as a major shipping hub hong kong has also one of the quickest and cheapest shipping and logistics platform available on the market.
hong kong wins the competitive hedge by a landslide....

welcome to the factory!

hello everyone, this blog will tell you everything you always wanted to know about tailoring and shirts.

i've just moved into my new office inside the shirt factory which specialize into custom high end shirtings.

in the world of ''fast fashion'' and consumerism, quality and value of products have disappeared, and most of the manufacturers of these goods have gone out of business or adapted into the luxury business model.

but we decided to bring these values and quality's back!
being that consumers of these goods have disappeared over the years, to manufacture high quality goods was not enough and we now have to educate our customers and potential customers and show them what is the real deal!

which i will gladly do starting from today.....

the blog will be updated with articles, pictures, videos as often as possible.

all your comments are welcome!
